KIDSTAGE TAP Program

Village Theatre's Teen Apprentice and Internship Program (TAP) provides hands-on experiential learning, mentored by professionals, in a wide variety of theatre disciplines. TAP opportunities allow students to learn theatre industry vocational skills such as performance, direction, design, management, and arts education. Using theatre arts, TAP teaches theatre industry vocational skills, creativity, and responsibility, encourages teamwork and personal integrity, and builds self-esteem.

TAP Students:

  • Pay a tuition of $250, which is often reduced by financial aid and/or work exchange (50% is covered by work-exchange for tech program students)
  • Receive a customized learning plan
  • Are provided strong and consistent mentorship by a theatre professional
  • May take advantage of a progressive learning experience that can lead to internships and potentially even paid positions
  • Learn theatre skills for career opportunities and enriched lives
  • Develop a broad-based appreciation for live theatre
  • Promote positive values through art

Tuition can be offset by:
  • Work Exchange: if the TAP student provides a necessary function to a production (spotlight operator, pit musician, prop master, etc.), they will have their tuition reduced by 50%.
  • Financial Aid: students who qualify can have their tuition reduced by 50%.
  • Combination: In some circumstances, students can apply both Work Exchange and Financial Aid to the same TAP experience, thus covering the full tuition.
